In Logistics, Are You Paid Salary, Hourly, Or On Performance?
More Answers From Logistic Professionals

Jacob, Host at Logistics Degree:
Question: At the entry level, are most jobs in the logistics industry paid salary hourly or some sort of performance based compensation?
Corben, Supply Chain Manager:
Answer: Most often it’s salary plus performance, but that performance would be very much depending. So many roles are simply flat salary, no performance based piece. But there are those that do have it. In my unique position as a freelancer, I am 100% performance based. So I seek out the work. And if the client says, Corbyn, you’re a great fit, that’s how are you then? Great if they don’t, I don’t get paid, which is the highs and the lows. It’s the roller coaster of being a freelancer or consultant, whichever term you want to use there.
Nathan, Logistician:
Answer: I would say the large majority is salary based jobs. I would say a couple of exceptions to that would be in your operations management, you’re going to have a lot of production associates and warehouse associates and those are mostly going to be hourly. And it’s possible that the supervisors of those teams are going to be hourly as well. There’s really not a lot of performance based like you would see in the sales world, like for commission. I think a lot of supply chain professionals, particularly in the procurement world, would be interested in performance based because it’s all about saving money and optimizing things. But a lot of companies have been hesitant to do that.
