Jacob, Host at Logistics Degree:
Question: What was your degree specifically in? And then could you maybe mention a few of the other options that were available to you?

Nathan, Logistian:
Answer: My degree is in business with a supply chain emphasis. The other options for me were finance, marketing and human resources. Supply chain is clearly the best one of those four. At a bachelor’s level, you’re going to get a lot of supply chain degrees, logistics degrees and industrial engineering degrees.

Haley, Supply Chain Manager:
Answer: So my degree fell under the general business school and mine was information systems, which has a lot of that, how you can look at processes, programs, products, and how you can make them more efficient. So falling into the logistics category, I took a lot of classes like system design and analysis where you look at a system and then you see where the inefficiencies are and how you can make them better. And our whole purpose of our program was looking at those processes and not only making them more efficient, but making them more efficient through automation and technology. And I also studied a lot with project management and how to work with people and stakeholders and all of that. One other major that was in our business school was supply chain and operations. So that major was pretty high level, but more focused in the supply chain area and operations. So you studied logistics, you did study data analytics, kind of like I was mentioning. And you also were studying procurement and kind of all the areas of supply chain from start to finish. And then people kind of get to choose what they want. Another area that I think of options that weren’t in the business school is some of the more of engineering types of degrees like industrial engineering or even civil engineering. And if you want to get really technical mechanical engineering, because all of those engineering types of degrees can help you to understand how something is made from start to finish and how to do it efficiently. So for me, I kind of wanted to go more the business route and those are kind of the two options I had as far as the logistics degree goes.
